JoAnne Klimovich Harrop honored at Greenfield Community Awards Dinner
JoAnne Klimovich Harrop received a Special Recognition Award at the 36th annual Greenfield Community Awards Dinner on Nov. 12.
She was honored for the stories she has written stories about the interesting people and places in the neighborhood where she grew up. She attended St. Rosalia Grade School and has been a member of St. Rosalia Church for 59 years.
Her favorite restaurant, Big Jim’s in the Run, is located in Greenfield.
One of those stories was about her late mother Evelyn. JoAnne quarantined with her mother in the Charles Morris Nursing Home in nearby Squirrel Hill for 85 days during the pandemic in 2020. The story earned numerous awards, including a national Edward R. Murrow.
JoAnne celebrated 25 years with Trib Total Media in October. She said the Greenfield is extra special because she’s following in the footsteps of Evelyn who was honored at the event in 1997 for her work with the AARP Chapter 2611.
