Congratulations to the Q2 2022 President's Circle Awards Employees of the Quarter
Eric Lilja – Business
Eric Lilja is currently on his second tour with Trib Total Media. He first started at the Valley News Dispatch in 1998 as a freelance artist for Editorial. He moved to Ad Services part-time in 1989, went full-time shortly thereafter then returned to Editorial in 1999. Eric left us in 2005 but came back 14 years later as a Front-End Web Developer with 535media.
“Eric has shown an unwavering commitment to the company and the Development Team over the past few months,” said Shawn Yauger, Lead Website Programmer. “He helped carry us through some really thin times. I could not ask for more from an employee.”
Eric has been a steadfast member of the Development Team, showing integrity and accountability while facing staffing challenges. He continued to evolve as new tasks were put in front of him, with which he had little to no experience. Eric is always happy to step in, find solutions, and get the job done.
He also coaches and teaches other team members, helping them grow their overall skills and experiences. Eric is a true leader and mentor and his positive attitude is an inspiration to not only current members of the team, but new hires as well.
Eric lives in Washington Twp and has 2 daughters, Abigail and Kathryn, who modeled for a few VND marketing promos when they were babies! Eric also has 2 dogs – Bowie and Charlie – and 2 goats – Steve and Maverick. And, fun fact, Eric ran a comic book shop out of his house and currently owns 25,000 comics!
Carolyn Pardi – Advertising
Carolyn’s career with the Trib began in 1994 as a Part-Time Shift Supervisor for Advertising. She started full time 9 years later and is now a Senior Multimedia Advertising & Marketing Consultant.
Carolyn earned the top spot in our Q2 Advertising Department Rankings with 83 points. Carolyn managed 25 active accounts and earned $62,722 in revenue, against a goal of $47,527 putting her at 132% over her sales goal for the second quarter of 2022! In addition, she sold 21 advertising packages for the first round of Best of the Best resulting in over $11,000 in revenue. Carolyn also secured 23 advertisers and over $8000 in new revenue for the 2022 Progress edition.
Carolyn is a sports fan and her favorite teams are PITT, the Steelers and Penguins. She also enjoys croquet, golf, movies and shopping.
Val Rodell - Editorial
Val Rodell first started working at the Trib in 1989 as Night Copy Editor, later became Features Editor and even wrote a weekly country music column. She left in 1999 but returned in 2017. And we are glad that she did!
“Val lives our core values with our readers and her coworkers every day,” said Lori Falce, Community Engagement Editor. “While her work involves asking difficult questions of frequently frustrated people, she does so with rigid honesty but the simultaneous softened hand of understanding. Val has single-handedly kept many readers continuing to read, even when they insist they won’t!”
Val works as a freelance proofreader/editor for local universities and companies and as a church musician. In her spare time, she reads with her book club, goes to the gym, watches movies with her kids and plays A LOT of pickleball.
Val lives in Latrobe with her husband, Chris, daughters Josie and Lucy and their dog Snickers.
